Bangladesh Update
Deb Robinson has recently returned from Mymensingh, working with both the staff and students at our Training Centre, as well as the Parlour staff. From visiting past students in their current workplace to being part of the latest students graduation, Deb filled her days to overflowing! Local floods have again made life challenging for the local people and Deb was a huge help in filling in for teachers and generally supporting them.
While there, Deb visited a parlour 21/2 hours drive from Mymensingh in the Kishoreganj district.
The owner did our 3 month Mobile course and now employs 2 junior staff.
She is the only parlour in the village and has a bridal client every week!! She also sells many items in the room attached to the parlour. You can imagine the significant impact this has had on her family and community. Importantly, her husband is VERY supportive of the venture.
Another past student is now manager of a 5 room parlour in Mymensingh. Our research indicates that the reputation of the Hair and Beauty Project is such that prospects for our students are really encouraging!!
As always Deb timed her visit perfectly to be present at the latest Hair and Beauty Students Graduation. Already 7 students from the recent graduates have found employment and others have interviews.
One of the joys for Deb was to visit one of our trainers currently on maternity leave. Sostilla has recently given birth to a beautiful healthy baby girl. You may remember her young son drowned in 2016 and we are delighted for her at this time.
Our trainers continue to flourish in their role, working together to provide an excellent standard of training to the students. They also provide additional support to the parlour staff and last week spent a few hours up skilling the staff in the latest henna design techniques.
